Thank you everybody for your kind words of welcome.
Below I am putting up my first photograph. This dates from just over three years ago and was taken in the dealers yard prior to us acquiring the vehicle. It shows the vehicle in it;s original state. Subsequently it has changed & I will put some more photographs up showing those changes. |

Hello everybody. Thanks for the comments & a special thankyou to Mr. LandRoverAnorak who has saved me by putting up my first photo. After I have written this I will attempt to put some more “snaps” up. I still aren’t sure what I am meant to be doing what with me being new to the forum.
The photographs were taken today & show the current state of the vehicle. They show a number of modifications namely a new bumper, spotlights, LED lights, daylight running lights & not too clearly seen, some underside protection. I waited a time before having the items fitted. It was a case of growing into the Defender, assessing what I needed etc. I wished to enhance the visibility options for safety reasons. I like the underside protection as hopefully amongst other things it will stop branches getting lodged in besides helping resist general bashing. I got the large size heated seats & they are great. They provide me with good support driving over bumps although so far I have not been able to test them (& the suspension) along any corrugated roads like those that are common in some places. Inside there is the standard rubber flooring. I don’t have carpet & don’t want it in our damp climatic conditions. Inside there is the factory filled radio. It seems a good one to me. We have a more fancy unit in our other car, (DAB & sat nav included) which is great so that could be a further nice mod/upgrade but we are in no rush. Also I carry some cases with first aid, triangle & other useful items in case things go awry for us. The vehicle came with the Boost Alloy wheels & accompanying tyres. They look great but to date I have not used them because I also bought a set of standard tubeless rims & tyres & I have run on those. It is just my preference because all of the previous L/R’s that I have been fortunate to drive were equipped likewise so they feel “right” to me. I will however swap over sometime, I’m just not sure when. In reply to Mr. Oakseywick, we too like the grey colour so that is why we selected it in the showroom. In the tropics we invariably drove vehicles that were of a much lighter colour & most often white. I like that too so if we strike lucky on the lotto we may get a white one as our next L/R! All of our family loves travelling in the vehicle. It really is one of the best feelings in the world being above things & getting forward in unusual places. I know that I am writing to similar aficionados however it is always worth saying. I will close now & try & get the photos up. If they are not there in a few hours then it is down to my ineptitude. I need to work out how to transfer from the gallery to the body of the text. Lovely 90 whittcliffian, but I'm afraid that I have to say that I am not a fan of the wheels that you have fitted, I reckon your original alloys need to be refitted,....just IMHO of course!
Maybe a set of Wolfs might be the go,...they'd be a bit wider & fill out the guards a bit more? Regards from Aussie, Pickles. |
