Thanks for the new replies & comments.
In reply to Mr. Pickles, your comments about the wheels are good & I will put the alloys back on sooner or later. They rest on a stand at the moment. So far I have not felt the urgency to swap them over. I like the original traditional rims. For me they are part of the essence of a L/R & they bring me in happy memories from when I started out driving the vehicles. That said, I have also read about & looked at Wolf’s as well. They are on my notional wish list of acquisitions however I have not taken the plunge so far due in part to the expense, space required etc. Part of the overall fun with L/R’s is to wistfully think about the options & possibilities.
Mr. Mk1collecter, we are presently living in the Holme valley. I grew up in the Spen valley hence my user name. Subsequently I have travelled a lot in Latin America & Africa. So far, I have never got to drive a L/R in the former but I’ve been in lots of them in Africa. May be I’ll tell some anecdotes about those places in due course. One for now is an observation about fellow owners in our current location. There are plenty about, I guess it is the farming influence as much as anything but I have noticed over the years some people have “packs”. They own three or more L/R’s mainly Series & Defenders but also Discovery’s and to a lesser extent Range Rovers & often a combination of all. Good on them.
