Sorry, that's the only model which IS a real Jeep (didn't Enzo Ferrari call it the only true American sports car?), as opposed to to the more modern Fiat-based rubbish. AND it has a longer heritage than the Defender. Peter |

No mate, I've driven Defenders through Africa - Namibia, Angola, Congo, Zambia & Botswana - heck, I've even been hit by an anti personnel mine in a Defender driving through Namibia 35 years ago which still crippled along to the next town minus a lot of important bits & pieces. Aussies prefer Toyotas to Jeep any day of the week, for good reason, but the Aussies who need to RELY on their transport out in the outback very often prefer Defenders. I have never seen a Jeep make it to the outback in Australia, except perhaps a few misfortunate city slickers - there may be one or two, but I sure haven't seen one. I KNOW I have NEVER met an African OR an Aussie dumb enough to take a Jeep offroad through the outback or the African sub-Sahara My first Defender was used in an African Safari waaaaaay back in 1974 - and yes, it did break down here & there, but we got it going every time AND we have since learned how to prepare better for trips with Defenders - There is NO vehicle in the world which could TOUCH a Land Rover Defender - it really is the Best 4X4 X far!! Besides, Jeeps are passenger cars, Defenders are commercial vehicles - big difference just there alone - try parking a Jeep in a loading zone - Defenders are allowed to use Loading zones in Oz & USA ****CENSORED**** Last edited by RockJaw on 16th Nov 2017 1:01am. The lads at work always mistake the defender as a jeep, must be the wheels. Anyway I have to say my dad had a jeep before the defender, and he had nothing but trouble with it sadly. it was a very nice to drive mind, but a right
 to get parts for and no garage could read the ecu. Also he never really gelled with it either like has with the defender. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I watched that car being craned out at the time. How the driver managed to end up down there at that angle I'll never know. It went through a whole row of wrought iron railings on the way down. |

Parking like that would be a piece of p!ss for a Landy owner but if he was a REAL Landy owner he'd have got back in & driven it back out of that hole!!
