Hello all,
So my clutch pedal has become more and more creakier over the last 6 months, I'm 99% sure it isn't the spring as I've lubricated the nuts off the damn thing and can see its action is smooth, aside from that the sound some from higher up - have a look/listen for yourself: It happens more often on the return stroke and usually when you're doing more delicate clutching around the bite point. Kind of feels maybe like it's binding and releasing very fast. I've torqued the pedal box screws, lightly tweaked the lever/linkage with small pry bar, tapped all with hammer the 'Fonz' style, lubricated all the other linkages and shafts I can see from the top side, including following the advice to get the lube inside via a grease nipple here: http://www.defender2.net/forum/post263911.html Clutch, clutch master and slave were replaced about 1.5 years ago. The master was a genuine part. Still, it creaks (not squeaks). Is this the same sound others are talking about in all the other threads? Pushing the pedal by hand I can feel the creak too. Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

OK, there's still hope! I'll have another crack at the nipple tactic - try to see where it's ending up ... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... Last edited by agentmulder on 1st Nov 2017 6:41am. Edited 1 time in total |

clutch pedal box overhaul or replacement, the clutch pedal pivot pin/shaft in pedal box are worn-out i.e. the hole at top of the clutch pedal are not round but slotted, had to overhaul one the only way i find to sort the problem remove the box and strip it down rework the pivot pin/shaft and holes with new metal and drill out. the box had been in defender for 120.00 miles work

Slotted? Yikes
Pedal box out sure is a pain... Weld in material then mill it out? And the bleed too Mind you, I'm more mechanically tricked up than the last time I did the job so maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Hopefully the grease will kill it (job for two days from now) Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

Ugh, so no amount of grease in the joints appears to remedy this creak...
Any more ideas before I remove the box and strip it? Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |

I put in the grease nipple and the grease and for 2-3 months it worked well.
Then the other day there was some big globs of grease in the footwell that squeezed through, and within a day or two of that the squeak/croak was back. Don't really want to deal with grease inside the footwell like that regularly so will have a think before pumping any more in. |

Mine is only MY2016 so replacing the pedal box and master cylinder would make me sad.

that's why LR started fitting sub woofers etc. it proved easier, cheaper and reduced warranty claims than trying to fix all the other issues |
