2012 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Orkney Grey

[Wanted] Defender galvanised military bumper

I'm looking for a galvanised military bumper with the central pin but without all the other holes? I've found this

But looking for this

The holes in the front face are to bolt on military bumperettes, although I'm not sure that they were ever fitted to Defenders. The larger ones at the ends in the top face are for flags. Darren

The two outer holes on the top of the bumper are for inserting the convoy flag pole, they can also double up as a fixing point for cam poles if your being lazy

Buy a secondhand one, weld the holes up, blast and galvanise. That would do the trick.

if there are multiple holes at each end of the front face of a mil bumper, then they'll be for smoke grenade dischargers.

beware civ copies - they are often made from 2.5mm steel, the mil version is normally 3.5mm if memory serves correctly.

convoy flag holders are useful for a height clearance checking pole if you have a roof rack or high lift and the car park has a height restriction!

i'll shortly have a spare used 3.5mm steel black mil bumper to sell --i have had a 6mm copy made which is about to be galvanised. 110 Defender 300tdi & Penman trailer with ally exped top and roof tent

Thanks Foxhound. I'm after a plain galvanised bumper. I guess it wouldn't be economic to strip and galvanise your 3.5mm whilst the other is being done? James

i could send it off to be galvanised with the new one if i had something else to put on while that is being done. 110 Defender 300tdi & Penman trailer with ally exped top and roof tent

Hi all, I appreciate all the effort and offers but I need to bear in mind cost. I also have a spare bumper in Suffolk but I can't help feeling purchase cost, galvanising and carriage is going to make this uneconomical. I do appreciate all the effort though, thank you. James
