How long do your brake pads last?
I was helping a friend looking for a Defender yesterday and he was questioning the sellers "still first brake pads" at 100k. Mine are still 50% at 150k, but I was wondering what are your mileages on brake pads? Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

I change mine every 2 years with the brake fluid. They go brittle and get sticky on the rear calipers.

Depends on your driving habits and whether is city or highway use. For sure rear pads wear faster than front ones in my case. Puma 110" SW

I think fronts were 50, rears were 70, that was a lot of city. Second set lasted longer but the city driving slowed. It may depend on brand as well. First set were whoever Land Rover use. Second set were Brembo. They worked well but were very dust producing. Third set are some budget mob from the UK, they seem to be doing there job but can't recall their name. My Defender and travels

Original on my 110 2011 2.4, 70%F and better than that on the rear! Not much town work at all really, can't complain about that! Very Happy Thumbs Up

Looking at my records, it seems to be 30k to 50k miles for the rears and 60k to 80k miles for the fronts for me.

That is on a usually heavily laden 110 with a fair amount of towing, over a 200k mile recording period. I use genuine pads every time.

Just curious, why first the rear pads on 110s?

My 90 does have the tendency to collect rust on the rear disks due to too few brake action. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

MY td5 110 (used for off road driver training) can do a set of back pads in two weeks when used in very muddy conditions, front pads will last a month.

I imagine it's because the rears are a lot smaller.

Just a funny update, the 90 was in for maintenance and I got a sad call. They had to replace brake pads - not because they were worn, but they fell off due to rotten rivets. No wonder braking was a tad light lately. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

Is this due to the traction control kicking in a lot or down to driving in abrasive soil ?

My 90 has done 118k miles and has only had front and rears changed once. 2005 Td5 90 XS

the rear break pads (and rotors) lasted 30k kms on mine and I just recently replaced the front (pads and rotors) at 60k kms.

Pumas chew the brake pads and rotors. the rear brake rotors are from Brembo I think they are very soft for whatever reasons....

the rear brake pads will go first because traction control...especially after some sand/mud got into they

After coming up eight years front and rear pads still over fifty percent, rear discs good! However front disc’s looking scored, they will be replaced eventually with new pads. I think it’s just abrasive gravel roads rather than anything else. About 100KKms travelled.

Usually 80-90k miles on most vehicles (incl my last Disco2)... Even on my Auto XC70 (with less engine braking)...

Depends how you drive... Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)
