The "End Result" would absolutely "live up to expectations" if what you are after is effortless amounts of smooth power & torque, making for a very exciting, performance orientated driving experience. But it ain't easy, & it definitely ain't cheap, it ain't just the engine, ....ya'd have to change the transmission, driveline, brakes, exhaust, preferably upgrade the suspension, and then there's just the simple matter of getting the original instruments to work! BUT, the ultimate power plant for sure,...unless you went LSA, my only advice would be go for it, but make sure that whoever does the job knows what they're doing, maybe preferably has done a few before, because the wrong job would make the vehicle a nightmare. I visited a workshop in sunny dowtown melbourne last week to have a squiz at a late model Puma 90 into which they'd inserted an LS3, beautiful O.E. standard job, $50K+ for Eng, G.B & exhaust, but yet to do brakes, diffs or suspension, so it ain't cheap. Try doing a search on LS3 I think you find several useful threads. MCMA1 has a specific thread, Likeomg is currently waiting delivery of engine. Bristol90xs (?) has had it done a few months, to name a few. There are others but can't find them on my mobile.
Wildcat is probably the most popular conversion company but are others. Will be amazing! Currently doing them..
Wildcat Milner are doing a D2 members right now and developing a kit. Nene are too.. their prices are on their site.. I'll be doing one in the next year, as soon as the kits are more developed and readily available (read cheaper). If you want an LS conversion without all the shiny spangle and diamond stitched leather - also try DT Engine Solutions too, he's firing Lexus/LS/OM606 motors in Land Rovers all of the time. I just checked out the Nene site,..Wow, they seem to be into the LS3 in a very professional way, even having designed a comprehensive "kit" for others to install!
Does anyone know of someone that's got the Nene conversion? Pickles. |

I looked at Nene's kit and kudos to them for coming up with one. It's everything I need, but scary expensive (for me) especially as I'm just ploughing another £2.5k in the v8.
I'm hoping kits will be developed by others and prices will drop with competition. That said, you can DIY it as others have. I just want a full kit and spanner it in myself. |

1, Milner as you say are doing one as we write and seems a reasonable price. they're my current preferred, as I hope to do this in Spring next year. I'm thinking manual as well, as that's a huge cost/labour/problem saving. 2, I think Pickles (or another based Down Under), supplied a link to an Aussie outfit that do a full LS3-into-Def kit and it wasn't too bad. What Pickles says is bang on the money. Fitting and running an ls3 is actually quite easy. The rest is where they differ. I would be asking if they upgrade the cooling system,upgrade the lt230 diff and truly a whole lot more before I handed anyone my cash. You might be surprised by some of the answers. I have even see one using the standard puma plastic moulded induction pipe.
