Hi
I have one and bolted it over the original plate so would agree with your suggestion. Mark |

I fitted a Safari Equip one recently. Just fitted it over the original thin one, by removing and refitting some of the bolts. Can't see it being a problem, not having the thin original one in place.

OK, thanks all for the replies.
![]() ![]() ![]() Next question... does the tank "sit" on the thin guard? or is it just that.... a guard? If the thin guard is removed, will the tank then "sit" on the new HD guard, or is it supported by other brackets? sorry for all the Q's! ![]() ![]() |

I can only talk for the Safari Guard.
Mine sat on the lower side of factory fit guard and supports. From memory I took the 3 large bolts out from each side and the guard is drilled for the same holes. What I found confusing was the large size of the pre-drilled holes, but as it turned out you are supposed to fit with large washers circa 1" which actually works fine. Sorry, not answering the question........ Tank does sit on the thin guard and will need supporting, but as it is so thin, I would assume the tank can be supported on the new guard without any probs - would lower tank approx 5 mm. Evenin' Marcus You say yours sits on the guard... which? your aftermarket HD one, or the factory thin tin plate? |

on the tank guard, took the flimsy factory on off as it won't protect the tank and it drops the tank down a few mm which helps if you have to change the pump or drop the tank.
do you need the factory flimsy bit? |

Will need a flimsy guard until i get a decent one.
mind you, got to a) get my chassis yet, b) fit a Td5 crossmember to it, c) make/buy/weld on some Td5 tank brackets! ![]() ![]() |
