Under cover work and other Thatching info.
Hi all
This is my next job for at least 2 months now, it's a bit different as we don't often get these ones........

This is a view i have when i'm going down the drive to the house Very Happy

The first pic is what we have started and the length is approx 40' long and when we have finished both sides and completed the roof ............................

we move to the right of the pic to the next 40' section Shocked Laughing separating them is a big thick castle like wall, as you can see in this second one, the white on the left is the wall Wink if look at right hand side of the pic, the end wall is the same, very big structure ........

At least we dont have to worry about the weather for 2 months now Mr. Green Clayton.

I bet that's a great feeling knowing your going to keep dry for a while! Very Happy

So what sort of cost would that be to do the roof?
I bet just the scaffold and cover must be a few quid.... 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Are you thatching over Celotex or is part of the roof tilled and part thatched? I guess its a luxury to be working in the dry? Now gone - 2012 2.2 110 DC XS

Thanks Rashers, no view in under cover i'm afraid Sad but there are a couple of made windows Wink to look out Very Happy Clayton.

We are only doing the thatching work Thumbs Up all the other is being done by the building firm and has to be all fire proofed and signed off Wink It does make a change for us not to do any of the wood work involved Very Happy It does make some differnce in the dry, the only thing is that we might like it toooooooooooo much Laughing Clayton.

Just an update for all who was interested with the first lot of pic's, these two pic's are of the first roof finished, front and back Very Happy ...........................................

The lower bit of roof is part of the roof that we have just finished because it's lower than the other roof that we have just started, to the right of it Very Happy the total length of the house is about 90' long, hope that helps Wink Clayton.

That looks very nice. I've specified a few thatched roofs over the years and it's always a joy to watch people who know what they're doing. Darren
