A little while back I fitted a heated seat loom from FCX into the 110 along with some heated seats from a Puma but found I was missing a connector on the seats and never finished the job.
Before I go and wire things the wrong way, can anyone confirm which wires go where? Coming from the seat back, I have a long cable with a green plug and 2 other cables (yellow and grey) with no connectors. I'm guessing the green plug connects to the seat base and the 2 wires connect to the FCX loom? The next bit is the bare wires, is the link below the correct plugs to connect to the wiring loom? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Connector-Repair...p_C3LCfw-A Click image to enlarge 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop 1989 300Tdi 90 Soft top 1992 200Tdi 90 Truck cab with Land Cruiser axles |

The loom with the yellow tape band around the end of the corrugated tube goes to the connector under the seat base.
The other two loose wires should go to another of the same connector, then mates to a connector on the seat box which is the supply (you should have these on your wiring kit). Yellow is pin 1, grey pin 2 on your replacement connector. The connectors in your link are correct, I also do them - http://www.defender2.net/shop/fbh-fuel-pum...1-p73.html If you order from me I'll make it up with closer coloured wire - I think I have yellow and grey but may have to be black instead of the latter. I can also supply a length of corrugated tube if you wish. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

I thought I'd piggy back on this thread/post rather than start another.
Does anyone know if the seat back and seat base heating elements are wired in series or parallel? A brief visual looks like it's the latter with the seat back being the primary route. The reason is my drivers seat heater has stopped working and I think the seat back heater element has failed whilst I know the seat base heater element is sound. So I'm guessing that if I'm right it's the open circuit on the seat back that's causing the issue. Unfortunately my manual simply shows both elements 'as one.' Passenger side all ok which is just as well as SWMBO is quite keen on it! I'll get my multimeter on it later but thought I'd ask first |

I'm pretty sure they are series wired but not 100% sure and can't check myself until later.
But you can check using your working seat. Unplug the connector from the seat box and check the resistance across the plug on the loom going into the seat. Then unplug the connector from the seat base and check the resistance again on the same plug as above. It it goes open circuit compared to when both pads are connected, it is series wired. If the resistance doubles, it's parallel Martin 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Thanks Martin,
Having re-read my own post (doh!) I actually meant series not parallel Hence my theory that the seat back element failing would affect the base. You are of course bang on the money. Here's my poor quality sketch made earlier without corrected vision May help some other poor soul. The main wiring is fed straight into the seat back, and then the seat base is fed from there. I should have recorded the resistance for others to reference - I'll do that later Click image to enlarge Thanks for your help Martin. |

The single seat base heater resistance (on my truck at least) is 8.5 ohms. So, using my finely tuned mathematical skills, we can assume that the total resistance across the seat box connector is circa 17 ohms
I recall the calculation for parallel resistance being counter- intuitive i.e. less (1/R + 1/R). Hope this helps someone |

There's also the thermal switch element in the back rest, this is in series as well.
In the seats I retrofitted to the soft top I had a broken wire in one of them, leading to the thermal switch. Peeled the cover off a bit, dug out the wiring and repaired it. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Thanks Martin - good call.
I may have a look for the thermal switch. If it's lower enough down to be accessible it's certainly worth a try. If I have to strip the seat back down, then it's a new foam and Exmoor cover job then |

The wiring is all visible, it is non destructive to remove the cover and have a peek inside 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
