Am thinking of maybe gettign a swing away wheel carrier

But other than that, the only thing I have planned is a little trip to see IRB for a Stage 1

do your research which carrier you get, I went for one that opens with the back door, and also has the option for mounting a high-lift jack on it too. It's the WVA Holdings/Safari Equip one and I bought it from Scorpion Racing (as-was):

and this is what happened to it after about 2 1/2 years:

No heavy off-roading or anything to increase the strain on it, but obviously couldn't cope. Still looking to get it repared, as I've still got the bracketry attached to the truck, but have had to revert to the standard wheel carrier for now. Mark S

Rough deal yours breaking like that. Guess that you are going to have to foot the bill yourself?

I was thinking of getting the Mantec one; is expensive compared to the others available, but having said that, if it lasts.....

Oh, and did you fit it yourself? Am a bit nervous of drilling into the truck Surprised

The WVA ones are notororious for breaking at that point.

yeah, too old for them to do anything about it, but not got it done yet. The powder coating is all coming off too, I'm seriously considering getting it repaired/strengthened, then shotblasted and galved for longevity.

I fitted it myself with my dad's assistance (second pair of hands is always useful), and yes it is a bit disconcerting drilling into your truck, measure twice, then measure twice, then measure it again just to be sure Very Happy

It makes a huge difference to the back door, a lot easier to open/close, and I'm not entirely happy using a spare wheel bike carrier on the standard setup as it puts even more strain on the back door. Mark S

Actually I would give them a call. It should not be failing like that. Have a word with Adrian, he's back from holiday.
