Thought i'd mention it before you get too far...
Boost Alloys will not fit those axles; without the hub cover sticking through. The centre cap will not fit the alloy. Only cosmetic - and i know how much work has gone into refurbishing them and you now have a rolling chassis - but to make it work you'd need 300TDI axles onwards. (including the front radius arms - they are slightly wider). Loads around from scrap discovery's cheap. I like the rosstyle wheels Or if you are happy with the boost look without caps. Great build so far... |

Last weeks work was important but boring to log and for you to look at, things like wiring loom thru the chassis and stuff like that.
We did however cut up and dispose of the old chassis, although I did cut out and keep the original chassis number, that is now bolted to the inside front cover of the growing file I have on the vehicle. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge This weeks work has been much more satisfying and impactful. The engine and gearbox were reunited, together again, and installed into the chassis; Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge It really is lovely to see it coming back together, progress may slow a little now as we have the bulkhead to attend to and spray before it is reinstalled, at the moment it is still just as it came back from the galvanisers. Anyway on wards and upwards!!! 2007 90 Puma - Love it - Best car I have ever owned. 1989 Ninety 200tdi - Love it - Second best car I have ever owned. 1951 80" Series 1 - Love it - Third best car I have ever owned. |

So yesterday saw us start the spraying process.
Bit of re-learning going on re spray guns etc. Last car I sprayed was my Vauxhall Nova, and that was around the same time as our Ninety was being built. I ordered my paint from Paintman, and I would recommend them to anyone, Dave there is a very helpful chap. First off; T-wash after that Acid Etch followed by a bit of filler here there and lots and lots of rubbing down, then the primer. Tomorrow hopefully will see the top coat just on the bulkhead ready for steering, pedal box etc. etc. reassembly. What colour do you think? Any guesses??? Clayton, always nice to read your support for the project Not feeling very blue thou
Mash, you're one of the Gods here aren't you? Praise indeed to get the thumbs up from you. I really enjoy your re-build thread by the way Painting has gone ok, got a reasonable job done on the bulkhead to allow reassembly of the driving parts before tackling the rest of the body later in the project.
