looks like the OP has the same issues as I, see the history here: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50069.html --

It isn't urgently required but the idea of the blank is mainly a safeguard just in case the EGR leaks or is partically stuck open.
That is difficult to determine and won't always flag DTC's or illuminate the MIL. Having said that, the probability is highly unlikely! But seeing as I did actually have EGR issues, I wanted peace of mind and it is very easy to just slip the plate in. You don't have to fully remove the bolts or gaskets, simply slip it in on the inlet side. And tighten to Torque specified. https://www.defender2.net/gallery/albums/u...4l%20D.pdf ^^^^ WSM Section Ref EGR. WeWillWinπ¬π§πΊπΈ β½οΈπ’οΈβοΈπ§°πͺ |

I agree it is not a bad idea, and gives peace of mind.

i have run a 2.4 with software EGR off since 67k miles, with no blank.
On this one i went for the Alive EGR off option (software) and fitted the blank - thank you for all advice on here, took 10mins or so and its tight but not too bad, no where as bad as its made out to be! More importantly - no more rough idle since EGR off function! ![]() (although need a colder morning to be extra sure!)
