 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Stornoway Grey
i was told today by an independent that you can just fit a new VCV and leave it be, doesn't have to be 'learned' its better if it is but not essential.

The pressure relief valve on the fuel rail LR006866 i believe, seems to be quite a bit ££££, is there a ford equivalent part does anyone know? Cheers

It's not essential but highly recommended to get it re learned and pilot corrected

well i was going to do the whole job and get a relearn, but when i phoned for a price for the learn i was told it didnt need it hence the post.

Whose fitted one and not done a relearn? Cheers

It will run without a relearn, and if the old VCV was faulty it will run better with a new one. Given time it will relearn by itself, but the higher the mileage the longer it takes.

ok, thank you, so may well be fitting the one i have here and not doing the relearn. if it runs better i know the old was faulty and can then either pay to match it or let it sort itself out. thank you. Cheers

I have gained access to a code reader and am repeatedly seeing p0404, p0100 and p1103. EgrFault causing the maf problems or both at fault? Cheers

EGR causing MAF readings to be thrown out most likely.

cheers, so will that cause the rough cold idle too?

solution is change the egr/clean it or could it be mapped out and blanked? Cheers

I was experiencing exact same symptoms, rough idle and kangaroo juice thrown in when cold weather which cleared after engine warmed up, I had VCV replaced and pump and injector pilot relearn carried out and this cured the problem 100% Very Happy Not saying it may cure your symptons, though from memory VCV replacement was not that expensive.

have a consistent EGR fault currently so am going to sort that then if persists looks at VCV change. Cheers

EGR issues can pose similar issues as the VCV.
The symptoms Keith describes above were the same for me when I had EGR stuck closed issues.

I myself went for an Alive stage 1 EGR shut down and blanked.
In fact my EGR there now is faulty but shut right off.

I bought a new EGR to replace and packed up 6 months later £160 down plus my own Labour. Rolling Eyes
Cleaning them seems very hit and miss, I never tried as I didn't think it would be reliable anyway. WeWillWinπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
