what is the voltage to temp gauge with engine running,? any body help.

12.7 to 13.8 v i.e. battery charge voltage to start with

Thanks M8 ,I have a 300tdi 1996 defender running at 14.5 volts .gauge in the red after one K. From pump to gauge all new. next thing to check will be the printed circuit. Open to idea`s.

black new one. Engine not over heating, thermostat opening at 94/95 .

Is the gauge going in to the red all time ? with power to the temp gauge

Hi, good morning, Yes it is all the time . it looks like I will have to spend that £170 for a new printed circuit, just hope it works. Thanks for looking. Just found out that it could be Resistor in line from the alternator. any one know where it is, save me from ripping my landy to bits. thanks.

Well I found the info that I wanted , on Ihsw .com electrical library. PdF. Now to get an other temp, gauge.

Thanks guys for the help, I`v run a wire to earth from gauge body. It has come off the red and is now siting on the half way mark.Will take it for a run later and let you know how it runs.

Well that seams to work, did a 3k run and the gauge sat just to the left of half way. don`t know how it works but here`s hoping it say`s that way. well keep you informed.

Did a good run yesterday 30 miles, gauge stayed on same spot, just befor half way. Don`t feel right , just keep looking , onwards and upwards.

you can check temp gauge with power in to the gauge remove sender wire short it ground gauge needed shod go full scale and with the engine up to temp remove sender wire needed shod go to (0)

HI guys, Just an update on the high temp reading on my 96 110. after putting in new senders and temp gauge it sill was reading high,( in the red) so I thought
