You should read some of the indepth posts on here regarding these bulbs ,I not sayin if they are right or wrong but has put me off them also my daughter bought some bulbs from Halfords which one just blew up one night,she has never told me this until I was talking to my son in law again off putting.

After running Speaker EVO for 3 years, I went back to my genuine Cristal headlights with uprated H4 halogen bulbs from Land Rover. That was now about 2 years ago in 2015, and they still doing well.
Light output is much better than a standard H4 bulb, it says +100% on the package, bulbs are filled with Xenon gas, but they actually remain just crispy white fully road legal H4 bulbs. I don't know exactly which make it is that Land Rover source, but the part number is VPLDV0061. Link to the part is below. From what I have found in the past with my rover metro, you can change the bulbs as many times as you like, but if the lens them selves have seen better days then you are
 against the wind,
If you are looking at changing the bulbs then why not just fresh the lens to go with it, I did that with my dads rather than him fork out for new bulbs, I did the same with mine and went crystal. Well I started off asking if Philips Racing Vision Bulbs really where 150% better and ended up buying some Speaker Evo 1 8600 LED headlights which thanks to leeds who pointed out the pitfalls of non E marked lights.I will soon see myself I hope.

You won't go wrong with those great upgrade. I have a Noldens and have been impressed.

What are the upgraded headlight wiring looms? (I have a 2004 Defender 90 TD5)
A web search brings up "Boomslang" looms - is that the sort of thing? Also, what do they do, and how difficult are they to install? Do they supply a higher voltage to the halogen lamps, making them run brighter/whiter, but with a shorter life? |

The boomslag loom is an example. You can make one up yourself.
It does not provide higher voltage - what it does is it removes the current from going via the switch (the stalk switch) to the lights as this sometimes burns out the switch. So what the loom does is connect the switch to a relay. Switch works the relay which then provides power to the lights. You have to connect the relay to the battery or alternator |

That sounds useful - I've burnt through a handful of main switches over the years!
From some comments I got the impression that they'd make the lights brighter, but perhaps I'm getting it mixed up with some other changes. |

Voltage is increased by lower resistance and lowered voltage losses. And as suggested power fed directly from the alternator and not through to OE switch.
Voltage is still regulated and with in range of suitable use. I run a Land Reiziger loom despite running LEDS that are voltage regulated. Although current draw is relatively low, it still brings current flow through standard switching down to mA.
