Back from Scotland Road trip including Syke
Well what a couple of weeks away we have had Thumbs Up

Ben Nevis, Fort William, Mallaig, Syke (all round Skye), Kyle of Lochalsh, Blair Athol, Edinburgh (lots of places in between)

1600 miles, over all sorts of roads, views amazing (Syke.... Wow) Every turn is a Loch and view to die for, then a turn of a corner and another view...

Car was packed (we camped a few times and we don't rough it.... Coffee machine, heater, Electric, Toilet etc...) Was great on these roads and suited it. Average MPG was in the 30's which I think is amazing for the stuff we had in the car...

Some pictures.. I've too many to go through but a few of our trip Smile

Glad you had a great trip. Weather wasn't too bad either by the look of your photos.

Looks a great trip! The wife is wanting a tour around the outer Hebrides next year so contemplating hiring a couple of roof tents to see how we get on with them as setting up out tent takes too long! Seems you found a good mixture of accommodation. Thumbs Up James

James,

We actually fine we are better sorted with our own tent. Everything has a place and we know how it 'works' better for space..

We can set ours up pretty quickly and we do take a lot...

Kitchen pops up, Coffee machine and laptop. Heater, Electrics for tablets, cameras etc. We can also sit in the front part if the weather is bad.

This year we even had a folding twin camp bed with double air mattress and big blankets Smile

It was great staying in the other types of accommodation mind, we just get more sorted in our own set up. I like the roof tents but again ease of use not sure it would work? we have a porta potty and then my 6 year old is never going to get up the ladders... plus the wife likes us all together so unless they did a 4 birth roof tent its a no go.

My option would be a roof tent and canopy set up on the sankey? but then its easier on these narrow single track roads not towing Smile

Great trip though and we are looking at the other little Islands for next time Thumbs Up

Thanks for sharing these Stacey007

That all looks great... well done Thumbs Up

I've been going through the options 'on or near' the NC500
and the list just keeps growing... Exclamation

Slowly coming to the conclusion to have a general plan but
to allow an adventure... ideally 2+ weeks Sep / Oct or next May

Really want to do this now...

Thanks, Stanley, made an enquiry but only hire fully equipped Defenders, not just the tents.

I feel like I'm high jacking this thread so will start my own Smile Thanks anyway Thumbs Up James
