What is a TP exhaust
HI I have in the last week or so baought a 1999 TD5 defender. I am new to defenders so this will be a steep learning curve !

The previous owner told me it had a TP exhaust and failed to ask exactly what this was. I have googled it and the only one I can fine is the tornado performance (twisted performance) a stainless one. My question is is this what I have or could it be something else Question

It really whistles and is quite loud indeed

The car has other performance enhancing devices such as an upgraded ECU

Sorry if this is a little vague

thanks in advance Thumbs Up

I drives well and has been really looked after. It does go well although Im not sure how well a standard defender goes. I may look to improve the performance a little more with an uprated inter cooler. Do you think it would make much difference?

It will make some difference. i would also depend on what BHP it is now. I would guess at about 168-175 with the exhaust at the moment with a stage one remap. i'm not that experienced with the power on the defender. The people you need to ask is PETE form BAS Auto or alive tuning. They are the men in this area.

Someone will be on soon who could give more advise.

Cheers Thumbs Up

Being a 99 model, It will almost certainly have one of those awful blue coloured piggy back type tuning boxes, connected into the injector wires, rather than a proper ecu remap. Rolling Eyes

168-175bhp - I doubt it.

Take some pictures of inside the engine bay & in the drivers seat box, and post them up, so we can talk you through what is what. Alternatively, give us a call on Monday. Thumbs Up
