It's coming along great... I've got a combined boost and EGT gauge to fit... its not quite oem looking but not far off.. unfortunately is was very expensive, not helped by having to pay £69 import tax.... Shocked

I will be interested to see what improvements the boost pin makes.. I was looking at one, or turning my standard one, although I'm a bit apprehensive about tinkering with the engine...

Yeah, it does between 5-7 tons a year Thumbs Up

The 200Tdi is a very tough engine, i'm going to set everything to standard and see how it behaves, then i'll have a little tinker with the timing on the fuel pump if I feel the calling.

Have you got a pic or a link to the gauge?

looking great there kit, did you see the amount of soil i removed from mine? you could have used it to pot a plant with! i am sure there is more still to remove, you may be right about those guards, the rear cross member area, where the rear indicators are, is a mud trap!

Yeah it's starting to come together now, I think mine and yours are the same kind of restoration by the looks of your thread! There was a whole bunch more that came out while i was blasting around with the air line, that last pile just came out while I was rummaging around with my hand! 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

yeah I am starting to thing the same thing, I need to get in with the hose pipe really and have a good blast. sadly I don't have an air line, you should have seen the amount that came out from the out riggers, so god knows what ours has been used for in the past. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

The gauge is pretty smart, but I suppose it should be at that price!

There are a couple of variables but it's about 4750-5750 bottles Smile 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

An air compressor is a useful bit of kit and there no where near as expensive as they used to be these days, if you do get one make sure its got a pretty good capacity as I had a little one and it was frustrating to use.

I think most defenders built before they became fashionable have had a fairly hard life, mine has definitely been through a workshop at some point and had a wad of cash spent on it in the last 5-10 years, i'm fairly convinced the front end has had a blow over at some point too. 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

I know it was expensive... I've done lots of overtime to pay for that and other bits and pieces.. I will probably be too tired to do them Laughing

Mine has had some love too in the past, with galv inner sills, and a new fuel tank, Me and my dad have talked about air compressors, we were thinking about getting air tools. With us both having Defenders now, so it could be all still on the cards.
My dads also had some money spent on it, He found that out the hard way, when stripped the thing down to replace the clutch that didn't even need doing, it already had a new one in! He is hell bent on clutches! had the 306 clutch going for the past 10 years! and its till going strong now! Even tried to start on mine, but that was due to a prop shaft cv joint going. Anyway enough of me winging on about my dads clutch fetish Laughing Have you looked at the tappets? Mine where way off! Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

haha! yeah I don't fix something until its broken or I want/need to upgrade it, ill probably do the head gasket at some point this year and ill have a good poke around the engine to see if anything needs doing.

Only had Sunday free, finished off the waxoiling for the chassis this weekend, I couldn't get any good photos as the my phone camera didn't like the light.

My wolf wheels arrived, so I had a go at them with the wire brush and jenolite'd ready for them to be checked for buckles next week, then ill paint them in Alpine White (LRC456) to match the roof. I might actually have a go at them with our paint gun rather than rattle cans... im sure that'll be a nightmare but there's only one way to learn with new tools...

I also fitted new door striker set which took allot longer than I hoped due to door/hinge/striker alignment

those wheels will look good when they are painted, laugh is kit, my dads clutch has died. Looks like he made an error when he installed the gearbox and damaged the pressure plate Shocked
So its all got to be stripped down again, Rolling Eyes Own fault really, due to having the landy up on the ramps at the front so everything was going in at an angle. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Had a bit of a nightmare with the electrics, when it was down the garage they did a small amount of welding and it looks like they didn't earth it properly Evil or Very Mad only just noticed it now that the fuel tank is back in and the fuel gauge didn't go up when I put diesel in... had a guy up from them and its mostly fixed but there's still a couple of gremlins.

Annyway... guess I should be glad it isn't worse!

Spent most of this weekend, sorting out the rear interior, I was a bit worried about what I was going to uncover.... as they can rot quite badly in the wheel arches and floor...

Not so good, very badly corroded here, well worth spending a weekend checking yours if you have the time

1 coat etch, 1 coat regular primer... then ran out of paint as the paint shop had given me the wrong order, luckily I test the spray cans before I start as sometimes they take a little while to get started or they spit badly. So below is the result of 1 can. Ill pick up another 3 and I should be able to finish. I also riveted up all of the holes. I put about 4 coats of hammerite special metals primer on the rear edge.

Nice photo I took in the morning after mcgreggor vs floyd:

I also finished cleaning up my wolf wheels, so ill pick up the paint required for them this week as well.

I've been saying this for 3 weeks... with any luck ill be on the road next weekend! Very Happy 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

Great work in the back there Kit... will you be soundproofing or something else? Alans rear is nicely painted so I just put a rubber LR mat in. It seems a shame to glue stuff to nice paint. Are you going with the white wheels or colour coding? 1993 200Tdi Defender 90

I decided a while ago that I wasn't going to put any sound deadening down, not much point with an engine as loud as the 200, i've also got a nice mat to put in the back Thumbs Up 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW
