Series 2a V8 ragtop

Evening all

I have acquired this 1967 s2a RPL 156 from
Jeremy's barn of delights.

It's already V8 albeit we assume the engine is junk

I plan to fit a 4 litre RPI rebuilt engine that I have left over from a RRC project, will see about the gearbox, Zeus front disc conversion, RR diff ratios and a few other bits and bobs

Hopefully won't need a new chassis but who knows!

3 "deluxe" front seats, Purely Metal chunky hood sticks set, tailgate side opening and some wolfs on 235s either body colour or limestone and distressed a bit to look aged. (Unless I find 1 ton wheels for sensible £)

Bodywork / paint to be exactly as is.. be a shame to lose that character

I paid a visit to Bespoke 4x4 in Oxfordshire today and plan for them to do the work unless I get any PMs advising otherwise! They had 2x series 2 on the go, one S1 and more in the diary (see photos)

Hit me with ideas / tips / spec advice etc! Work won't start till next year

Cheers Dan

Sounds a great project, it's going to be awesome! Could send it to Cool N Vintage, their works is spectacular but Portugal maybe a little too far? https://www.coolnvintage.com/

Could try John Brooks at Cult 4x4 Framlingham, Suffolk be right up his street Thumbs Up James

Has anyone else had one of these from Purely Metal?

Quite a lot beefier than a standard hood sticks set, looks good in galvanised and also acts as a seatbelt mount - seems like a win win to me

Lovely looking Series 2a, I've got a 1966 Series 2a. Very Happy

Re the heavy duty galvanized hood sticks/roll bar, the Land Rover pictured belongs to a friend of mine. I've travelled in the Land Rover on a number of occasions and it is a very good piece of kit, definitely worth the money in my opinion. From memory, I believe it was a custom made job, rather than off the shelf. If you have any questions about it, I can ask for you.

Thanks for that mini anaconda

He does them standard now for £522 which I think is far better value than an exmoor seat belt hoop / bar plus hood stivks
