Mot/service
The 110 has just been through an mot ( not at LR as they were too busy) I know the guys at the garage & said if there's anything that needs doing or is slightly suspect let me know as it get used a lot off road.

So yesterday it went to LR for a service & leaking rear diff seal ( under extended warranty) Phone call yesterday afternoon it needs
New front discs ( warped)
New front pads ( down to 3mm)
New rear suspension bushes ( worn)
Diff seal ( warranty work)

£1100-£1200 pounds!

It's done 20 miles since the mot a couple of weeks ago because of the rear diff leak..
Question is wouldn't warped discs, knackered pads & shot rear bushes fail the mot? IF they were as bad as LR have suggested?
I put wheel spacers on a couple of weeks ago & the pads had plenty of meat on them then??

Not sure that warped disks would be picked up on an MOT but the rest of the stuff most definitely would. Sounds like a work creation scheme to me Confused Darren

Interesting reading that link, just been passed the garage where it was mot'd & popped in. The guys weren't surprised, happens all the time they said.
Just spoke to LR, they're doing the diff seal & rear bushes under warranty. So they're getting paid for one of the things that doesn't need doing by landrover themselves... robbing so & so's....

You could always grass them up to Land-Rover, after the work has been done obviously. Twisted Evil

I agree with the above, contact JLR Customer Care after the work has been done. I trust you'll be asking to see the "worn" bushes when they've replaced them. Defender 90XS SW

I've lost the will to live with LR dealers, its got 12 months of the warranty left & then I'll let my local independent Landrover garage to look after it as he's old school & fair.

The dealership it's at at the moment is the best in my area & it's embarrassing when talking to the service staff as they haven't a clue what they're talking about. They make KTM dealers look downright professional & that's saying something!

This happened to me. Warranty work for the dreaded puma rattle and "your brakes are a bit low sir". £440 to replace all pads. Ouch. I paid £46 from a local supplier and swapped them all in less than an hour. Only one pad out of eight was worn and strangely the split pins and retaining pins were clean on this caliper. I.e. New
Somebody had been playing with the pads during the warrant work.

Thing is when people find this kind of thing, how many of you report it to JLR customer services? If they get enough reports about a particular dealer they'll take action.

In the case of warranty work, i think certain jobs probably under a certain value are self authorised by the dealership, JLR just do random checks. If however they've had a lot of complaints about a certain dealership they can do 100 checks. Which is an awful lot of work for a dealership, especially if they don't then have faulty parts to show for it, they don't get paid.

If no one complains, then JLR just assume everyone is happy.....
