I just read some snippet from McGovern saying that basically it's going to look nothing like the old Defender, and more like the newer models.
I think they need to tread carefully otherwise they'll end up with something that looks like a D-MAXRunnerLux200SteedVara and that's already been done. Most of the new LRs seem to carry the same brand identity a step too far for my liking. |

I think there is no doubt it will look like all the other LR ranges. I'm more interested in what price bracket it will be in? I had assumed it would be in a just below D5 range but from the rumours it seems it might be up with the FFRR/G-Wagon prices! James

If that's their pricing level then it seems they're after a different demographic than farmers and utilities. A top of the line Isuzu is around £35k and that tows 3.5 tons (as does the ranger I believe) so I think that demonstrates where they need to be to retain even some semblance of the agricultural market.

I seriously hope you're right! As LR currrently manufacture no commercial vehicles it would seem to make sense. However all this talk of LR most technologically advance vehicle so far, may suggest otherwise. We will see... I'm proper interested in this.
I'm now Defenderless (for nearly a week) Our Disco4 is 3 years old now, I'm just not convinced by the Disco5 I really do hope the new Defender is brilliant, I hope JLR get it right (I think they will) |

same boat.
The new disco looks like a slappers handbag so that's out. Hope to god they haven't pussied up the new defender. Off to ford if they have which will be a great shame. |

Personally now not so worried about if it looks like the old one (although that would be nice) as long as it does the job for the right price and is as fun to drive. I do agree about the disco 5 capable it may be but OMG not a looker

Remember how Land Rover just resurrected the Velar name by sticking it on the child of a RR Sport and Evoque ?
Don't hold out too much hope for them respecting their heritage. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |
