Tonight I have made a start on the chassis Mr. Green I cut away the whole panel that had a hole in it as I saw little point in patching it up.

Firstly I cut away the panel and ground down the factory welds.

I then made a card template to fit the gap

Welded the panel in place and coated in a quick coat of Buzzweld RCP to protect it until I decide what I'm doing coating wise

great skills there grafty! for that section you just repaired, that cost me 300 quid, even then it wasn't repaired properly like this, untill the mot tester repaired it in his own time for 100 quid.
I want to learn is how to weld properly so that I can save my self the few quid, really has bitten me that, been bumped out of 350, for what was really worth 100 for all the patches that was done. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

That's a shame, it's horrible being ripped off. Especially for sub standard work Big Cry

Welding isn't really that difficult, like most things it's all in the prep. If you get clean metal (with the correct power and wire speed) it's just a case of practising pulling the torch across the seam at the correct speed Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I've been really busy at work so haven't got much done, but, today I have booked in the chassis for blasting and taken the axles to my mates farm where I will have more room to work and get them sorted.

Can anyone 100% confirm that 90 and RRC road springs are interchangeable? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

They're interchangeable in that they will physically fit, although as standard they do have different spring rates, of course. Darren

Ideal thanks LRA. I was pretty sure they were interchangeable but needed conformation Thumbs Up
I'm thinking I might put the same progressive lowering springs on that my defender has on. Hopefully the ride will be even more supple with the extra weight Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
