Any ideas?
Whenever I go round sharp bends or roundabouts, as the vehciles weight shifts left there is a pronounced knock. when the wheels straigtend again coming off the roundabout etc, there is a corresponding knock, slightly quieter.

So far I have checked

shock and shock mount
turret
spring
drag link ball joints (drag link is new-ish sumo)
track rod (sumo and fairly new)
steering was laser aligned last week and it hasnt been offroad since to knock it out.

radius arm bushes are fine

the knock only happens on weight transfer when sharp cornering. It's going to the dealer next week to have new rear side windows as the current ones leak badly, and whilst I will ask them to look at this, they are likely to say "ah you have aftermarket shocks and springs, drag and track rod, trailing arms etc so nothing to do with us guv'nor"

Any ideas anyone?

mounts for steering box, engine, gearbox, tbox?

ooh - one other thought, i had a similar knock years ago and it was a couple of loose wheel bolts, funnily enough just after a service! BM52

I could be early sign of a cv about to let go but other than that I would have said radius arm bushes.

i don't do much tech speak but here goes, i did get a knock similare to that and i needed the pre load resetting, three times, in the end the chimps did a wheel bearing as well on that corner plus the swivel seal, it really showed when the mot guy had in on the lift and raised of the wheels and he could get the swivel seal opening at least 1 mm with him rocking the wheel in and out with his body weight.

it seamed to get pulled on its slack then jump back as the weight shifted and the slack allowed the knock.

if the swivel isnt leaking its not that.

HTH

Frustration took over. Couldnt leave it so tried again with a trolley jack.

swivel ok, no play, not leaking. wheel bearings ok. steering mounts all ok. checked radius arm bushes again, all fine. last thing i can think of which didnt strike me at the time is front anti roll bar mounts.

Rear anti roll bar on fuel tank guard causes a similar issue

Cheers Andrew. Odd thing is that the bushes on the anti roll bar mounts look fine though I didnt stick a bar in them to really check properly. I guess there is a chance that the noise is resonating from the rear. Am very frustrated with this, will have to wait til next week now.

In my case it wasn't the bushes it was the anti roll bar touching/catching the tank guard whilst cornering. 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

Just a thought on this (as I'm now getting the same problem on mine), but could this be caused by added weight on the front of the truck? For example, I have the soft A-bar and a steering guard added - what about yours Mike? And others that have had this problem?

Another thought, and hopefully not as stupid as it might sound... Whistle , but....does this really make any fundamental difference to the integrity/ safety of the truck? Obviously it is not meant to happen, but could it be one of those things that can happen but doesn't matter? I'm not in the least bit mechanically minded so please be kind with your answers!! Thumbs Up Simon

No it's not to do with weight. I have a winch bumper and winch and the tubular LR steering guard rather than the snowplough one, but I also have stuffer springs too.

It sounds like something is slipping one way then the other over a very short distance, but having been all over it with a pry bar and checked all the nuts, bushes etc I just cant find anything. My dealer visit has been put back until next week because they didnt have the side replacement ally trim painted up so its now not going into til next monday where they will have it "for a few days". joy of joys.
