kit, you could have done the rear dampers and brakes your self that would have kept money in the pot. They are not that hard to do at all

Procta, I only have about 3 or 4 hours a week (at best) to work on my Defender, I have replaced axles&brakes before and I know how long it can take, I feel it was money well spent. 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

That's fair play kit, If you haven't got the time to really, I have had to put a car through its mot and ask the testers to sort the brake pipe for me, Due to time and my dad causing more problems, Me and a mate ended up having to go back at the front suspension again, due to him rushing and not thinking! Gotta have the bad times to appreciate the good times Procta!
Here's the old axle for those who were interested, how the hell this passed the last MOT before I got it I will never know, the owners of that garage should be shot, so dangerous (excuse my french). The damn axle was loose and it had been like this for some time. Click image to enlarge Right, if any 200 tdi (or any def with tank under the drivers seat) has some spare time this weekend pull up your carpet in your driver side footwell and oil those nuts & bolts, I just had to drill/grind/cut a load of rusted up crappy quality metal out to get my leaky fuel tank out. Although the whole exercise was a massive test of my mental stability. Here's the bad tooth waiting to get pulled Click image to enlarge Under all that rust/mud are two bolts that I had to angle grind off Click image to enlarge The drilling commences Click image to enlarge The cutting begins Click image to enlarge Victory! Click image to enlarge Clean off all the underseal and rust...etc Click image to enlarge Next time ill wear gloves as this crap doesn't come off with detergent! Click image to enlarge Nice and clean Click image to enlarge First coat Click image to enlarge 2nd Click image to enlarge Something is missing from this picture... Click image to enlarge ...because I threw the damnned thing over there! Click image to enlarge So next weekend clean up all around the fuel tank area and then fit the new tank after ive give it a few coats of raptor. Clean up the new diff guards and fit them too. Might treat myself to a fuel tank guard from gwyn lewis too... if I can get away with it... from she who must not be disobeyed 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW 1956 Series 1 Hard-top 1958 Series 1 Soft-top |

Kit you will be surprised what they pass through! also while you have the tank out, replace that fuel neck and pipes too! Like I have done. Mine looks like they just did a half arsed repair and then bumped the Tester a few quid/ cans so that it would pass. What mine has failed on should have really been sorted for the last mot before I bought it.
The Tank repair they did on mine again was a joke, who ever had replaced that, needs to stay away from cars altogether! "Lets just nip up the clips and all will be alright with the world" yeah ok! I have lost nearly close to 400 quid on fuel that's gone on our roads! That 400 quid could have gone towards a set of brakes and rear bumper! £50 quid a week I was using! Since we sorted someone else's half arsed job, I am lucky it its using 20 quid a week. I was still a bit annoyed with the NAS rear step and then that bash plate arrived bent, I decided i'd had enough of used stuff for a while!
Yeah I just need to put it all back together now, i'm thinking about going back to 33" tyres with a less aggressive wheel... 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW 1956 Series 1 Hard-top 1958 Series 1 Soft-top |
