Hi Martin

I'm interested to see what the consensus is here.....

I have just bought my first Td5 and experience the same , though only sometimes when pulling away in first
then from first to second gear.

I have been told that it could very well be the dual mass flywheel
And these used to shatter and were replaced under warranty when the
Vehicles were not far from old.

It could be this or a sloppy clutch

So , I look forward to hearing what is said here Thumbs Up

Could be the MAF.

Check for oil in the redplug and clean the MAP

Throttle pedal on the way out? Only a twin track as it's 1999. Worth getting it plugged into a nanocom and reading live data perhaps? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I think 2002 (mine included) onwards have the NNN type ECU and therefore a three track throttle pedal. But this only makes them less prone to failure and not immune to it. I think nanocom gives you throttle pedal data live Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Try to just unplug the MAF, and clean the MAP and check air filter and air pipes for damage/blockage. This is fast and simple.
Than try to find someone with diagnostics (nanocom). "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "BlufĂnek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo Smile

Mine did the aussie thing every now and then. But then it stopped for ages and ages. Then one day I was checking my fluid levels and noticed that I never plugged the lunch switch back in. So, I did...then started noticing it again.

So now it is unplugged. TD5 Defender 90
