Sometimes OE manufacturers sell them. But not all, which is quite annoying!
The standard aerial does indeed have poor reception. Perhaps to save your time and effort it'd be worthwhile to swap to a flexj type like Brendan sells? Or at least consider, then it is fit and forget. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª Last edited by custom90 on 7th May 2017 7:04pm. The Herschman aerial is not amplified.
To get amplified you can: 1) Get a cheap one circa £11 on ebay - some on here have had success with them 2) Get a Blaupunkt Autoflex aerial 3) Add an external amplifier e.g. this kit https://www.quasarelectronics.co.uk/Item/v...lifier-kit However, you may find that your issues are due to USB interference rather than signal strength |

you're right it's not amplified, however it is very well screened, and the earth lead allows you to earth the areal right back to the earth stud on the bulk head rather than a poorly earthed wing. As you've mentioned it could be interference rather than a weak signal, and just fitting an amplifier will just amplify the interference too. It's why most factory fit signal amplifers are right at the base of the aerial, so they pick up the cleanest signal to start with. |

I converted mine so that it uses the CB aerial though a passive converter. Job done. And I now don't have the old aerial in my line of sight all the time. Got the box from 4x4 com:
