I once tried to buy a Vivienne Westwood polo shirt and I'm not a big bloke by any means (medium/large shirts depending...) but the largest size they had was XXXL and it was still way too tight.

For those struggling with jean size, either leg length &/or width - try Next.
They often don't have the full size range in store, but you can order online to be delivered to store and go try them on without delivery/return costs. It's where I get my jeans from, 6'6" and they are plenty long, and plenty of choice of style.
Formal shirts/suits M&S, casual shirts & T's Fat Face.

I recently bought a new suit and a new tweed jacket from Slaters as they'd just opened a new store on our local high street. The service was fantastic, more mature than the herd. Blokes with tape measures around their necks etc. Prices were brilliant and also any alterations needed were free!

This thread is making me laugh, I'm seriously expecting everyone to be wearing frilly cuffs and no socks at Billing! Rolling with laughter The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.

"Jeans... something casual/smart"

An oxymoron for anybody over the age of 25?

Jeans are for wearing while doing the gardening or crawling under the car, at a push taking the dog for a walk. Or REALLY trying to look like an old man, combining them with a jacket à la Jeremy Clarkson. Bald/grey head, beer belly and slim-fit jeans do NOT look good together...

Peter (501s for doing the gardening, Dockers chinos (also made by Levis) for going to the shops, double zip overalls - anything better than Panoply? - for crawling under the car)

Tongue firmly in cheek...

M&S? Next? unfortunately the denim equivalent of euro boxes...

Japanese raw denim?

Denim equivalent of a land rover – hand made, on vintage machines, shouldn’t be washed very often, age beautifully, tough as boots, attract hipster tax if you don’t know what you’re looking for.

All the fun has gone out of buying Jeans you now just go in a shop and buy the size that fits.

In my youth when Levis were really cool, they were not designed to buy off the peg and wear straight away, no you had to sit for a couple of hours in a warm bath so they shrunk around your waist and legs for a perfect fit.

These were the instructions

Wear in the bathtub and keep them on while they dry. Buy denim true to size in the waist and two sizes up in the length so they shrink for a custom fit. Ahh! Memories Smile

You young uns with the off the peg jeans are really missing out on the excitement of sitting in the bath in a pair of jeans and then hobbling about wearing them until dry. Wink

Reaching a certain age has its benefits I am still able to get away with a cool pair of jeans but because of that aged vacant look can now wear socks with sandals. Shocked For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Levis - great price from Costco... Have several pairs - always wear them outside work when I am not in Fjallraven trousers. Cool

I love that G1000 Fjallraven material even more than denim Wink Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

Nice one ginjez Rolling with laughter

Riverboy, waxing always reminds me of an evening Radio 2 show many years ago. I think it was Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie who had Noddy Holder as a guest presenter. It must have been around Children In Need time and someone was getting a Back, Sack and Crack for charity. Noddy seemed confused as to what a Back, Sack and Crack was. He was obviously enlightened during the following record and on his return was wetting himself laughing asking the question as to why a bloke would do such a thing????

Personally, I like the smoothness and it is so much more comfortable under my spandex jump suit or lycra. Noddy, you don't know what you are missing Thumbs Up Whistle

Spandex and Lycra, a formidable combination with beer gut and bingo wings Rolling with laughter
