Hi guys,
I have been passively aggressively looking for a series 2/2a/3 for a while. Truck cab/van preferred, Mot essential, pre 72 preferred, 109" over 88" (just in case ) And as such I have been looking at the Lro website and found a few I like the look of. But the pictures don't work when you click on them and I just get a image failed thing. Is it just me or is anyone else getting it? Any ideas on a workaround? I can't help you with the image thing, except maybe try a different browser, Chrome etc.
Ginjez pointed out www.carandclassic.co.uk to me. Some nice examples on there. |

Thank you all for the pointers.
I will have a look at the series 2 club and see what I can find. Prices seem to be ridiculous at the moment! Ranges from inches from scrap for £1000 through to nut and bolt rebuilds for £10k+ I'm only looking for a pickup to tinker with for a while but that range seems to be well hidden at the moment. There are vehicles to be had but the days of a £500 MOT passed runner are long gone unless you drop on lucky. You won't find that car on carandclassic though.... The bubble of classic car prices (Land Rovers) may well burst at some point but whether they go back to what we've seen before is debatable.
I just paid £50 for a flat apron for mine and I haven't even seen it. You'd have been given one for free some time back but most folk know this sort of thing has value now. |

So would a budget of £4k for a rolling restoration be to low? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

No I think you'll be fine at that and would expect something half decent too. I'm not saying you won't have to wait for it to come along though. There was one sold for £3500 on the S2Club forum at the back end of last year which seemed to be well worth the money. A lot just recently have been higher priced but they've also had things done as it were.
Just keep your eyes open and don't be swayed by some of the tat that comes up on ebay |
