I'm sure mine was around 11v before and 14.2 after ish, but I would have thought everyone's would be slightly different. Ray

It needs to be considered that voltage with ignition on only will be lower than with the engine running with alternator charging current.
If testing only at ignition voltage, that is fine but naturally the voltage will drop if you are putting lights on or off and drawing voltage. Best testing method is engine running test voltage first, then the same scenario after swapping loom. Then it's as accurate as you could expect it. At rest voltage is around 12 - 12.4v or at least should be ideally 12.2v. Engine running alternator charging current you should see 13.8 - 14.3v approx. Typically and ideally around 14.2v So if you alter your testing method between these two you will get a vast difference without upgrading any loom. I've not upgraded my loom yet, but IIRC when I checked my standard set up it was around 13.8v 13.4v with charging current or 11.9v - 12v at rest. So not vastly low, but some losses and that is without current draw on the feeds at the H4 plugs. Many vary, I've heard of some down to 10v nearly at the H4 connectors. It doesn't matter if you wire to alternator output or direct to battery so long as you use sufficient mm2 cable dia to take into account losses over the length. Overkill is always a better option than using narrower gauge. I'd say at a guesstimate, 2mm cable 15A fuse. 10A load. Fused nearest battery. My Spots are a 16A load, I run 3mm thinwall fused @ 20A. Most people here know exactly what they are doing anyway, but may prove useful to some. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Right guys , supposing money is not too much of an issue but without going way crazy into thousands of pounds .
What is the best lights out there for my Defender 90 . I dont mind spending a bit on new LED's or should I go for these halogens ? Is the LED's justa matter of changing out the original lights straight swap ? I quite like those Angel eye kind but any other recommendations would be appreciated ? Right now I have a set of Rallye spotlights that come on with my main beam through some kind of relay arrangement from what I can see > |

Nolden with Halogen 100w each spotlights.
Or a roof light bar, if you like that. Not so much my cup of tea though. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 Last edited by custom90 on 11th Apr 2017 12:26pm. Edited 1 time in total |

How much are these ? Easy to fit etc ? I dont like those roof bars either really although I may get a spot light / work light for the back ? The spit lights I have just now on it are big Hella Rallye things . Would I keep them or need to change them out as well ?
Whats these Angel eye type LED's like ? |

If you've got money burning a hole in your pocket and you want to be one of the top boys buy some Nolden or Speaker led headlights.
If you want better headlamps then buy some crystal headlamps, Nightbreaker bulbs and run the headlights through relays to reduce the load on the switch and increase the voltage at the bulb. The Hella Rallye driving lamps that you have fitted are very good lamps and will suppliment your main beam. HTH Mo The Land Rover 90 - Many are called, few are chosen. 50 Shades of Pennine Grey |

OK then I have just seen them online - that will do fine .
Can somebody on here put me in touch with where I can buy the dark chrome Nolden headlights and the small pair of dark chrome daytime running lights to accompany the headlight? I might as well go for the whole lot . Thanks in advance . |

Brendan is also on here. (Brendan & Barbara own the company.) I have them in black, which I really like. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Doesn't look as if they have any of the small lights that accompany the headlights left ?

Do you mean an external DRL pair or in-built?
Mine have an inbuilt pilot light and I got the loom to go with it. The pilot light effectively gives you a slidelight, without that dim dip nonsense. So it's like a DRL in its self. But as I said, perhaps you mean externally mounted ones instead? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Mine, really pleased with them.
Unique, powerful and pretty OE looking rather than looking like some Crystal embossed frog eyes. Only other that I think look decent are Wipac Crystals. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Nolden daytime running lights 70mm - not available it seems .
Neither are the dark chrome headlights to go with them ? I would have bought the 2 new headlights and the two smaller running lights as well ?????? |
