Mechanically yes, I think they're pretty much a straight swap but electrically no. The SVX crystal headlamps contain the sidelights whereas the originals do not so there are some wiring changes required.
Also, if you're going for the complete SVX set up, you get driving lamps too which come on with your main beam. To sort this out (and the sidelights) the kit comes with an additional wiring harness and relay to make the necessary connections. Pete |

I have got a bit confused looking at the prices.
The RHD with h/l adjustment is VPLDV000 and RRP is £408 but do I also need the grill as a separate? It seems strange that the lights and gubbins is £408 and the grill (moulding kit) LR008361 is over £500. So for the fancy lights and grill it is going to be over £1000 fitted. Has anyone who has done this found decent sources? Regards Craig |

Yes, you do need the grille kit, which comes as three parts (the centre and the two headlamp surrounds). You also need the wiring kit and fixing kit, and the prices for all of these in the brochure are plus fitting.
There's a guy on eBay here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Land-Rover-Defender-...3f072b97a5 doing the whole lot for £1120 ish plus delivery. Obviously, then you've got to fit it yourself. In the advert, he lists all the part numbers for all of the bits you need which is useful for research purposes. I ordered my kit to be fitted to my new Defender by the local dealer before I took delivery of the car. It worked out quite a lot cheaper that way. Pete |

I 100% agree and have no aspirations to imitate a gullable purchacer of an inferior car... buy a good XS spec 90 or 110 and make it your own spec.... 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Each to their own, I think on some colours the SVX front looks ok and there is a functional benefit as the standard lights are
 . However, my pockets don't quite run that deep.... |

I suppose black at night, would be an improvement 
On main beam standard isnt that bad - but for about £50 get wipac clear lights and uprate the bulbs (plus keep the headlamps clean) if your desperate Mike |

You really don't like the SVX front do you? I've only been a member here since the end of last year, but that's at least the third time I've seen you air that opinion. Some people (me included) really do like it and the lights are a massive improvement over the candles of the standard setup, especially on main beam. Explains your post count I suppose. Pete |

I suppose the post count has something to do with being a member before the svx was thought up... 
but no, the svx front end is awful and it will be so until the scrap it...i grant there are a few people who believe it either looks nice or is better...but then there are people with more money than sense too. I would add the old range rover sport body kit was bad too...but then they sell more and make more money to face lift it. Trust me - ive passed my thoughts on direct to the designers  but there are reasons for everything  Mike |

Personally I don't like the svx front too, just earlier today saw td5 being fitted with a svx front at the dealers, it just look horrible
I don't even like the HST kit on the range rover sport, its just wrong!

I for one like the svx front as I have it on an svx and will be getting it coloured coded
on my new 110. The bottom line on it is that the lights are a huge improvement over the standard candles. I also find it funny when I read "more money than sense" what does this mean ? Is it because someone has money they have none or does it mean you have no money or is it just an insult to anyone who has different taste to you ? |

Every SVX owner has more money than sense? Well that has alienated a lot of enthusiastic Landie owners. A variation of anyone who does not drive a Leafer is a softie I suppose. A few IMHOs would change your post from a rant into a perfectly valid opinion. But tell me if the SVX front end raises such contempt, why are you reading this thread? |
