How do I silence my alarm?
Hi folks, as above my alarm on my 2006 110 CSW goes off at the most inappropriate times - usually 3.00 am in the morning Shocked

Is there any way I can retain immobiliser function but silence the alarm until I can get time to check all the connections / sensors?

Many thanks, Will.

Be wary, thieves somtimes set off peoples alarm until they disable it, then when they trigger the alarm and it doesn't sound they steal the vehicle. I would have it checked out immediately for fault rather than disabling the sounder Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I've had this occasionally with mine, particularly if it's been very windy and/or I've left a window open a tiny bit for ventilation, or more so if I leave the dogs in the car while I nip into a shop or whatever.

I now have mine set on the 10AS alarm module so that locking with the key fob sets the alarm fully as normal, but locking it with the key in the drivers door locks all the doors and sets the immobiliser and the alarm via the door switches but does not activate the internal motion sensor.

I'm not sure if this is the default setting anyway but if not it's easy enough to set with a suitable diagnostics kit. (I use a NanoCom Evo.)

Prior to this, I used to pull the volumetric sensor out and unplug it when it became troublesome, so that's always another option.

As above, I lock my 130 manually with the key when I leave the dog in the cab or at nights on campsites, but I wouldn't want to do this overnight on my drive.
Alarm and immobiliser work as normal but not set off by movement or insects in the cab.

Used to happen with my TD5 Defender. I sprayed the door switches with WD40 which cured it completely and permanently. (Except for the odd moth or fly that gets trapped inside.)

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. The vehicle is on axle stands on the drive at the moment and the wheels are locked away so I don't think it is a twocker trying to be devious ?

The courtesy lights are dodgy at the moment so I will try them first and if all else fails there is the key locking option. They would also have to get past my Audi A6 first so that should stall them until I and / or the dog get my hands on them Twisted Evil .

Cheers, Will.

You've only got 6 switches to check (including the bonnet), it's probably going to take just as long to check the switches as it would to disable the alarm.

Can you nit just unplug the alarm sounder with the battery backup? That's what I am going to try if mine does not stop misbihaving.

I hae a bit of advice from Steve at JFrench who mentioned that the loom to the sounder runs along the nearside wing and often gets rubbed so that you can get occasional shorts setting the alarm off. Might be worth a look

Remember that the alarm activates the vehicle horns as well as the BBUS. Removing the BBUS won't stop the noise.

Sorry - can you explain BBUS?

Thanks, Will.

BBUS = battery back-up sounder, the thing that makes the racket if the thieves cut the battery cables to disable your alarm.

Got you Thumbs Up

It's sounding more and more as if I am better off tracing the cause rather than addressing the symptom Idea

Many thanks, Will.
