Erm - Help! Clutch gone I think
Looking for some help from the wise collective.
As it is the school holidays decided to spend a couple of weeks camping in the south of France.
All going well until gear selection becomes very notchy. I think the clutch has gone.
Does anybody know of any reliable garages between Lyon and Beziers?
Having spoken to some locals the chances of getting parts may be the challenge so happy to get them sent from the UK.
Should I also get the DMF sent as well? How do I know if the DMF needs changing?
Symptoms are:
With engine off I can select all gears so gear box is OK.
With engine running and stationary cannot select gears without force.
Can start engine with box in first and clutch out, cluth seems to engage smoothly.
Can go up through the box using clutch reasonably but back down is very difficult.
I am assuming it is the clutch unless any of the experts know otherwise?

Grateful for any help. Thanks Bow down

Andy (camping in France, in the rain, with an unhappy wife!)

I take it you are coming down the A7? There's a JLR Concessionaire at Valence that are very good. http://www.carbury-automobiles-valence.fr

Or give Pascal a ring at https://www.lignonautomobiles.com. 0475551414 They are Indy LR dealers just south of Valence and are very helpful. They speak perfect English too.

The rest of the week is going to be sunny tell your wife Very Happy (just dont mention the Mistral)

I too used landypoint just last week for some pieces. Kind, quick and honest. If piece not on their website, consider a telephone call. I imagine they are good for advice for service areas in France.

Thank you all for your help, it is very much appreciated.

The clutch fluid is still at the max level and is the normal pale yellow colour of DOT4, the pedal does not feel different.
I am pretty convinced it is either the clutch or DMF.

We will be heading down the A7 so will contact carbury and lignon first thing tomorrow to see if they can help. If not I will try landypoint.

Thank you all again, thanks to you the wife is still speaking to me (which, yes is a good thing before some of you ask!)
