Any galvanised parts I have had, I first T wash them or use an etch primer followed by a few spray coats of Hammerite Satin Black. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

I can recommend POR15. Like another galva cover, very strong.
After, If you hang your parts in the sun then the coulour will change over time. You prevent this with top coating what you want. If no direct sun then you can leave POR15 like that. On top of galva you will never see rust again. I think it is german brand. Like hammerite but much superior. Léo |

If it's in you budget, powder coat your galvanized parts. No issues with adhesion, UV stable.
I did the on all my underside steel components. Seat frame cross member, fuel filter cover, tank guard and strap... basically anything steel got the double layer treatment., then Dinitrol. A couple hundred years from now, there will be nothing left of the truck, other than a various pile of new looking parts surrounded by powdered aluminium it's a Landrover thing... my renovation thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40792.html |
