United Kingdom 2015 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 SW Keswick Green
New Land Rovers
I happened to be passing a LR Dealer, oops sorry "Retailer" this morning and thought I would have a look what was on offer. It was full of the latest model RR, RRS, Discovery, Discovery Sports and Evoque's. No RR Velar. Hardly any D4's and only a single Defender. It was the first time I have seen the new D5 or had a close up of a Discovery Sport. They pretty much all looked the same and I did not like the new D5 with its enormous round rear end. I had a D3 for several years and liked the boxy shape much better. At one time your could tell the difference between the various LR products but nowadays they all seem to have the corporate look and it is only the size that seems to give away the different models. I do hope the replacement Defender looks different when it is launched Rolling Eyes

Like you Defender9, I had a D3 and loved it, the boxy shape and the quirky lines of the tailgate, not to mention its off road capability and carrying capacity. It looks like with the demise of the D4, all of Land Rover's products have lost their boxy practical, agricultural styling. I like the design of the Discovery Sport (well I would say that 'cos I've got one) but I think to transfer the design and enlarge it for the D5 doesn't quite work. I have yet to see the RRV in the flesh but looking at a number of videos I was immediately impressed.

As we've been told many times there will be three distinct families of Land Rovers so let's hope that the new Defender family will not only look different to any other Land Rover but will set a benchmark that other 4x4's have to follow to keep up.

I'm optimistic. (JLR - please don't let me down) Defender 90XS SW

I happened to be passing Twisted and their offshoot LR Motors today. There were maybe 60 or 70 Defenders for sale onsite with another 30 or so at their nearby warehouse. An amazing place, some fantastic motors but also some rather, IMO, over-the-top ones too. Prices for the del. miles ones were a bit high but some of the ones around the £25k to £30k range seemed pretty reasonable. Worth a visit.

Having had a few recent Land Rover products as courtesy cars while my 110 van was having work done, and not being a professional hairdresser, I would find it impossible to own any of their current range of vehicles.

I've only just managed to get over the coiffeuristical urges provoked by the Evoque they lent me a year back....

I think the new defender is one of the biggest problems for JLR t the minute......they need it to be loved by everyone and that is not an easy task!!!
