Painting Stainless steel - advice please
I have had some brackets made to fix my foxwing awning onto a flatdog rax. The brackets are made from 316 so should be fine however their a bit shiny against the black of the rax.

Considering painting them rather than powder coating, do I need to think about specific primers before using a satin black spray?

Thanks Keith

Key surface, acid etch primer, base, clear.

If you want a superb gloss finish it'd be key, acid etch, hi build / filler primer, dry sand with 600 grit then base, clear.

For large items there would be another step too a sealer on top of the hi build.
As the hibuild will take on quite a bit of paint.

That maybe not possible though for the OP unless sent off, I certainly couldn't do it myself.

Panel wipe would also be useful. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

Is there ever any issues with pitting due to defects? ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Sand blasting is beyond what I can do. If I were to do that I would be as well getting it powder coated at the same time. Keith

Bought stainless rear mud flap brackets for mine. Prepped with fine wet and dry, etch coated, primed and top coated in satin black. No problems despite harsh environment. A straightforward diy job.
