Just removed and refitted one today funnily enough, and can confirm it's not a difficult job! An engine to TDi for!

That looks like something from a gynaecological manual! Positively frightening Came across this as I was doing some research into removing to centre dash to replace some bulbs, hope I don't have to go as far as that 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

Spudfan, not sure which bulb(s) you need to replace, I had to replace sofar only the hazard light switch bulb once. The part number for that is STC1205, mentioning it just in case.... Ordered a few of those from Rimmerbros at the time, so have some stock.

Thank you for that. It is definitely the bulb or bulbs above the slider control, everything else is O.K. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Thanks, Eric for the info about the light bulb on the hazards.. Thatīs very helpful, and interesting to read one of your previous threads. The hazard switch illumination on mine has dissappeared, coincidentally with the warrenty replacement of the windscreen frame a while back.
My dealer, who is usually very accurate and knowledgable, said the bulb cannot be replaced, so they would replace the switch. I will order a couple of the bulbs as you described. This forum is an amazing mine of knowledge, and becomes even more important as the warrenties all run out... 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

If it's that easy why does it take about 7 hours to remove dash, replace aircon evaporator, replace dash?

For replacing the center dash commands light bulbs no need to remove the dash. Just two screws and then carefully pull out the center dash panel, and off you go with these little bulbs.
About dash removal, years ago my dealer was ready to do it in order to do the infamous Puma heating temp equalising fix as per JLR recommendations, but when I saw that picture I told them to forget about it. I can live with left side a bit warmer than right side, more than with a disturbed dash. Eric You never actually own a Defender. Hiya all , I've been fiddling with my dash to repair a rusty spot on the left hand bulkhead .
But I've obviously disturbed the wires at the rear of the ignition area as I've got an intermittent fault with total loss of electrics , if I put my hand amongst the wires it starts !! I've got clocks out , radio and most of the trim but I can't get the dash board out completely ! It's stuck at the base by the gear leaver / heater matrix etc ! Any suggestions ? I've read some threads and you all say it's easy , but I'm stuck !! Defender 90 Tonga green . My 2007 County .2.4Tdci puma . Too many other Discos to mention, including a V8 petrol Disco3 and diesel Disco 3 !! ( All gone) |
