TD5 Turbo
Question.

I have a 2004 TD5 90 with 179,000 on the clock. I have taken the exhaust manifold and turbo off as I had some type of leak, maybe the manifold gasket. Anyway, while the turbo is off I am thinking it must be tired, it looks it! Do I therefore buy a reconditioned one (any recommendations) or do I buy a hybrid one.

I run a Stage 2 tune with AlliSport intercooler, de-cat, EGR removed but I have a snorkel!!! Everyone seems to say not to run a hybrid with a snorkel?

Advice please ?

Thanks

If you fit a hybrid you'll have to have it remapped to get the most out of the new turbo. Fine with a snorkel they just restrict air flow. Open up your airbox and remove the impeller, should help the air flow better

I agree on the impeller but I don't think that the part you cut out is the biggest restriction. In front off the pedal box is a water seperator that is not even 65mm internal diameter while the part you cut out is almost 80mm. Roel

True! Just a quick pic i grabbed off google, remove the lot for max air flow. You can see in the photo the impeller is missing
