James you don't have to apologise you are helping because as a collective using all our knowledge we can paint a better picture.
In my own research of ETC systems fitted to defender models your information on here has been most valuable, I'm fairly sure it was you who mentioned the system to be 'progressive' (ish- as we all know LR) so it will become more aggressive and you mentioned the caliper shearing incident. When experiencing ETC operation in my 110 it operates like this with a nice mild start before biting hard meaning I haven't been stuck yet. It just seems as an out of vehicle perspective your video shows no ETC followed by an apparent snatching action as it starts to work. I don't know the age of the vehicle concerned but maybe it is the earlier system versus my later one? Failing that anyone have some local rock crawl style sections for experimentation and comparison? As they say every day is a school day. |

mine has the latest Bosch system ETC on it (previous was Siemens) same system as fitted to run out.
It was trying before, video doesnt show it but you could hear it trying like mad. The vehicle is pretty well in there on that first clip. that clip was the 6 or more incident similar to that. one of the reasons i went to lockers after it, the shock loading is not ideal when your along way from anywhere!
