Absolutely agree. I have NEVER dinged or even touched anybody elses vehicle in a manner that would cause damage. Unfortunately, over the years, I've learned that there are many who are not as responsible as I am, in other words, some people don't give a stuff. Therefore, although not by choice, if I wish to try to ensure that my vehicle remains unscathed, I have to be as careful as I can. Pickles. |

Precisely, Riverboy. I'm amazed at the number of people who have no manners and show absolutely no respect for anyone else's property. Many of them, surprisingly, are old gits who should know better but always take the "Percy Sugden" holier-than-thou type attitude.

Just to show there are some decent folk left, when my father opened his door and the wind caught it causing it to hit and dent the car next to him he sat and waited for 2 hours for the owner of said car so he could apologise and pass on his insurance details.

ditto in 33yrs of driving I can 100% say I have never damaged anyone else's car. Saw a funny thing the other day, posh looking lady in a car park with lots of heavy looking bags, approached her car and put all the bags on the bonnet car was a brand new Merc. Put her hand bag on the bonnet clearly looking for her keys. Found them after lots of rummaging. Blipped the car and the Audi behind hers indicators flashed. Dragged the shopping off the Mercs bonnet loaded them into the Audi got in and drove off!! DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS, I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

Wow absolutely stunning... NB. the driver seems to be a little nervous of British walls jumping out and damaging the paintwork... 
Case in point. Check out the paint on, or lack of that is, these tree sliders? the other side is just as bad and owes its patchwork appearance to car doors. I have never seen anyone open their door on my vehicle, but I have seen the flecks of paint on these bars. Must have made a heck of a noise and not once has there been a note or apology. Click image to enlarge I remember my first car park ding, it was in a midnight blue Fiat Uno, I only knew something had happened when I came to wash and polish the car some time after the event. The crafty lil swine had chipped the paint and feeling a tad guilty i'd imagine went to the local boots and colour matched some nail varnish to cover the chip... Genius I thought at the time and ballsy too... |

some of the newer dashcams have parking mode now, and wide angle lenses .. I'm fitting one of my cars shortly.
(defender does not go to car parks, we have an old daily for the "rough" supermarket stuff) |

I was in a 5 mile old new discovery from the dealer - driven from the dealer to a car park down the road for my first meeting.
Sitting waiting on a work call and bang - old woman out of the passenger side door straight in. Young Woman (Daughter) and kids gave a tirade of abuse...similar to the o/p. Dent/scratch lined up perfectly etc etc after 5 minutes of no...they half admitted it only to say I was in the wrong for having a nice car and not expecting it to be damaged 
Fortunately it was a courtesy car and they didnt care, but i had all the details and photos (including of them getting out of the car and the door touching the car) they didnt like that either! I always hold my door edge when close, have never dinked another car (not least because i wouldnt want to damage mine!) and its what makes me most hate driving. The defender is a bit better, side steps and the arches (even though body coloured protect a lot Its everything thats wrong with society. I have mixed views about parent and child bays...but its cool when you take a kid to have space each side! Mike |

SWMBO often goes to the shops with her father, who is 90 this year (but very fit and active). I have often wondered if she'd be entitled to use a P&C space?
She is after all the child of the parent with her! Is there a conventional age limit on these things? |

I was chopping a tree at my ex girlfriends house when she popped into the garden to say "I'm popping out to the shops see you later"
The tree I was perched in was situated in the back garden and I was high enough up that I could overlook the house, the road and the driveway. I waved and watched her get into her mums brand new white Ford Ka Sport (with red racing stripe) which was parked in the drive next to my 110 and off she shot down the lane to the shops. Some more sawing and clambering happened then much sooner than expected I saw her in the distance coming home. She's not slowing down, she's not slowing, oh......Thump. Yes she turned into the drive forgetting that my 110 was there and contacted with my front bumper just behind the front wheel and stopped dead. I started clambering down the tree when to my amazement she pulled forward, dragging the bumper down the door, across the rear panel, across the tyer and into the other half of the rear panel, and then into the bumper. Leaving about a 4" square black imprint/fold as it did so. I hung there half in half out of the tree in amazement thinking, why on earth did she move forward! Answer, I misjudged it and didn't think it would be that bad. Do you think mum will notice? Turns out yes it was and yes, she did. Thankfully they were very good and both agreed that it was nothing to do with me so they claimed it only on there insurance. Ford Ka - written off Land rover defender - front bumper needed a rub with an oily rag - given packet of hob nobs and got to keep the logs. On occassions and they are very rare I have parked in the P&C spaces, mostly when all others are occupied. I figure that the dog in the back is equivalent to a child and esspecially when I need the space to get him out safely for a walk/pee break etc...

Moms used me as a child
My dog is my like my baby so im in. P&C bays convey no legal status...its just the righteous crowd that complain...they would probably scratch the car to prove a point! Ive never understood why P&C bays arent at the furthest part of the car park...surely kids need exercise?! Mike |

As a non-parent, I'd prefer that kids were not taken to shops at all, and P&C spaces were in the next county!  |
