My son has recently discovered that his gearbox crossmember is made of hammerite and sand!!
Its a 1986 ex MOD 110 (formerly soft top) that came with a 19J but he has recently fitted a 300tdi. I have found various listings for replacement crossmembers but none for a 110 so early. Any ideas? I also guess the chassis rails where the crossmember touches will be a touch tender too! |

Thanks James, that's what I thought but was starting to doubt myself.

Is he using the LT77 gearbox still? Round and square type including td5/ Tdci are nearly all the same, only bit is a Tdci has that stupid mount for absolutely no reason in the middle of it, which 2 minutes with a grinder will fix, tend to find these come up a bit cheaper. If he's fitting the R380 box you can use the 300Tdi discovery crossmember with a little bit of trimming too, either on the crossmember itself or the seat box "saddles" that the front M6 bolts fit through.

Thanks for all the replies
Yes he's still using the LT77 box. I did suggest he used the R380 but he seems happy with what hes got, although he may change the transfer box shortly. Walfy, if you have a crossmember spare that would be great. I'll send you a PM. |
