Door Hinge
Hi

I noticed the drivers door becoming tight to close and then noticed this yesterday. I read somewhere about the washers in the door rusting and I guess that is what has happened here, do you think that is right?

If so, what is the recommended fix?

Thanks

Adam

Firstly, clean it up and spray if with ACF50 and see if that helps. If not, then replace the hinge. Darren

I've been getting a rust streak from my hinges. I've been spraying with a thin aerosol grease but so far that just seems to be flushing more rust out. I'm still hopeful it will improve if I do it every time I wash the car. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Thanks all.

Tried cleaning and as for Bluest just flushes more rust out and have then treated with ACF50 with the result in the photo so I guess its new hinge time.

Which is best to go for? I see you can get them for £6 but are britpart ones and need painting!!

Thanks

Genuine hinges are the only ones worth bothering with in my experience.

Has the door actually dropped? If you are having problems shutting it then I guess so but it would be worth checking as if it hasn't dropped then you may be able to get away with just adjusting the striker. The hinges will show rust for some time before they actually develop play sufficient to affect door alignment/closure.
