Thats normal if you only connect the 12v permanent and earth - you need the switched live to be connected as well.
Connect the permanent live, switched live and light cables to positive and black to negative and it should spring into life. Bob |

did not see it mentioned yet but you can wire in the contact relay of the checktemp in series with the AC switch.
Program the checktemp at your desired temp and it will engage the airco automatically while you maintain the possibility to switch off the airco by using the original switch. For demisting/ winter time, press the right side button for 5 secs and the monitoring function is switched off an your original switch works as normal allowing you to switch on the airco even if the cabin temp is lower than the set checktemp temp. Dont know if the text makes sense but it works great. cant remember if i used the NC or NO contact of the checktemp  |

if you dont fancy all that hard work you could get a scangauge which uses the landy built in sensor.

instead of the temperature gauge, why not just plug in an UltraGauge ? it has temperature as well as loads of other engine information and can be used to review and reset any faults. LorryMan100 produced a great write up on the forum and the unit is about £60
it plugs directly into the OBDC socket and the only tricky bit is running the wire around the back of the dash to the window.  Click image to enlarge |

there“s how/where I chose to put the sensor cable. Hard to tell from the pic, but the sensor is rivetted to the wing“s aluminium just underneath the headlamp.
The position seems to make it very little influenced by road-dirt, engine-heat or sun radiation, be the car stationary or on the move. I like that - don“t want to drive some time until the reading settles down to the real values (should I have parked it for a while in the sun). |

I have a Garmin eco that does all that, but I like the check temp as its a dedicated item that can be fitted into the dash. I also like the fact that it can manage the aircon. |
