We run them on one of the works 110s. I don't know if the rim is technically allowed to have a tyre that width but we are limited on tyre availability in Ghana.
Seems to work fine though and a lot better on the road than the Michelin XZLs they replaced. |

Cheers Harry O. I got the 235x85x16 tyres fitted today, they are fine. Land Rover said that is the maximum tyre for the 5.5x16 rims. I thought it would look odd but it doesn't.

Tyre manufacturers typically recommend a 6.5 inch rim for a 235 section tyre, which is partly why Wolf rims are so popular.
Both General and BFG used to have detailed fact sheets for their tyres that specified this sort of thing, but I can't find them on their websites anymore ![]() 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Tyre manufactuers are a complete pain regarding useful information like that
![]() 235s are outside the recommendations for the 5.5" wheels however that doesn't mean it's impossible and lots of people do it. Just might be an issue with your insurance depending on how difficult they are. |
