How cold is it?
Could be a case that the mechanism is frozen up? If not then I would suggest getting in from the other side, opening it and taking the door cover off, see if any wires are stretched or loose. Use the other door then reach across & lift the locking indicator from the inside. Seem to remember something similar happened to mine a few years back & there was a broken plate inside which meant that turning the key moved the linkage but didn't unlock.

I can't lift the button either. Looks like it's the internal door panel off job. How easy is that?

It won't be easy as from memory the door card lifts off over the locking indicator which means you'll need to pull the trim clips out all round & the door really needs to be open to do that... You might be able to pry the door card out enough to get at the mechanism to open the door?

I had exactly the same with mine last week. Couldn't unlock with the key nor by lifting the button. I'd resigned myself to struggling with the door card but had a 'determined' jiggle of the internal handle and, all of a sudden, it opened! Gotta be worth a try. Darren

I had this once before and one of the rods had become slightly bent, so wasn't moving the lock far enough. Will be a struggle with the door closed tho to get the door card off or at it.
That plastic button is made up of three pieces from memory, a housing that is held by 2 screws into the top of the door, you put the the long 'button' through that which you hook onto the rod connecting to the lock mechanism and then a more external housing that sits in the door card, which can just slide up. The trouble is it will be very hard to get the door card off with the door locked shut, if you have a wind up window, removing that by the small clip and the internal handle, you might be able to prior the door card off at the top to get a look at whats going on behind. I guess another option is to take the door completely off at the hinges. Another time it got stuck, I just gave the handle a bash from the out side and it free'd up something and let me open it. From pushing the button in whilst it was locked, made something stick, giving a bit of knock free'd it up and the key would turn. Good luck with yours ! |

I'm not sure that taking off at the hinges will be easy as the lock will still be locked onto the frame. Darren

Play with the door pin and handle at the same time from inside, I get this occasionally on the passenger door if the button outside is pushed once locked.
You go to unlock it and you can only open from inside. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Ok, gave lrd a good clean today (snow foam, 2 buckets and power wash rinse) and tried lock again. Did not work first time, but then moved enough to open door. Once open I have locked and unlocked many times and problem seemed to have resolved itself.
Think I will take door card off on a dry day and check round for any gremlins. Thanks for you suggestions. |

A couple of things to try before you remove the door card:
Give the lock mechanism a good flush out with WD 40 and re lubricate with light silicone spray Check that the door is not closing too tightly and putting undue pressure on the latch, which may have prevented it from opening If you do remove the door card make certain you have spare clips, as you may well break some if you remove it in this cold spell |
