oil coming from rear axle outer flange
was checking the outer flanges for wear on front and rear axles to rule out the slight drive line clunk when I popped the rear offside rubber cover and oil came out,im presuming inner oil seal but would anything cause this? ie bearings away? axle vent blocked any pointers so I have rough idea what to order?
cheers gus

Likely the inner seal on the axle stub.

Not a hard job, biggest issue you will have is the brake caliper bolts.

If you decide you need to stage an intervention, then I would buy new caliper bolts and a seal kit, bolts are cheap and they can be a Censored to get off, so can be damaged, hence why I would replace.

But before doing any of that, I wouldcheck the axle vent isn't blocked....but I would still have money on the inner seal.

Question is, do you do the whole hog and replace the bearings as well, I probably would, along with drive flanges as well.....

Cheers
Andy
