What do you need a table saw for? Most saws at your price will rip through timber quite adequately but the beds will be pressed steel and reasonably light so anything requiring any form of accuracy, you may be pushing your luck?
Where have you been looking? Machine mart is a good place to look. Screwfix perhaps? Brother in law has a DeWalt that switches from chop saw to table saw. Nice bit of kit and super useful, but again, quite light for cutting large pieces. |

In that price range they are indeed mainly clones from china. That said, the brands with offer less for that price range as you pay for the name and badge. Going for something like an Axminster tools hobby series site saw will offer more...plus they are good with the after sales service and will take it back no questions if you don't like it.
First thing you should do with anything under £1k is throw whatever blade comes with the unit and invest in something like a Freud. |

You might be better off spending the money on a Festool track saw which could end up being more versatile and way beyond the quality you will get with a £400 tablesaw

That's not the end of the world if you put an inverter on it, so if you find a saw that's right apart from being three phase then go ahead and buy it and worry about the electrics later. +1 on Axminster's after sales being good. |

Elu saws are really good.
Their chop/mitre saw turns into a table saw & is also suitable as a site saw. Used one for a number of years when I was in the exhibition business & it never let me down. Guy May your life be like toilet paper ; long & useful. |

Elu gear was excellent - I still have a hammer drill of theirs which is still going strong. Unfortunately, they sold the woodworking part of the business to DeWalt in the early 90's, so new Elu-badged tools are now almost impossible to find.

Elu router i have was given to me by my grandfather - i think it's early '80s and it's my go-to one. So smooth to handle and never failed. Very strong motor and makes the B&D/DeWalt ones that replaced it look like electric tooth brushes.
Always worth a look whenever anything Elu comes up on fleabay. |
