Hadley air horn...

At a recent LR get together there was an owner with a foghorn fitted to his vehicle. It stirred something in my subconscious and some time later I found myself searching the Web for air horns. Came upon a Dutch shop called "Toetershoppe" with a nice variety of all types of horns. Eventually settled on a "false tone, mid-E" single Hadley horn as used by USA Fire Brigade vehicles. Also ordered the tank & compressor. Upon arrival took I took it to another LR friend who is a technician at a workshop that specializes in fitting off-road accessories. He suggested "hiding" the horn in the winch recess of the ARB bull bar, fitting the tank to the right rear chassis and the compressor inside below the right rear 2'nd row seat. As I also wanted on board air supply we swapped the original Hadley compressor for a 2 cylinder ARB compressor. (It is Christmas after all ...) The whole process went so well that the owner of the workshop decided to order 4 horns for his vehicles as well. Initially I was unsure whether to order 1 or 2 horns - but the racket caused by the single horn convinced me that I made the right decision and that a single horn is sufficient. (but you never can tell...) There is a dashboard switch that controls the compressor and another switch that alternates between original horn and the air horn. When switched to air horn the vehicle alarm will also sound through the air horn - a party trick is to leave one of the doors ajar and press the "lock" button on the remote control to get 2 ear piercing "baaaab's"... Used the air hose and inflator this morning to inflate the tyres on another vehicle - and what an absolute pleasure to use - extremely fast and the pressure readings on the inflator also very accurate. 5 Photos attached.

Replaced my drivers door catch. I can now open the door from inside without having to wind the window down and reach for the external push button on the handle! New passenger door handle and lock to fit tomorrow.

Attempted to fit an Allmakes spare wheel carrier I bought on eBay, but gave up as I can't seem to line the holes up properly. Not sure I have the right bolts either as they don't seem long enough to go right through the rear crossmember. Will have to try and source some fitting instructions I think.

Not what I have done but more a case of what I will be doing in the coming days. While fitting a soft "A" bar , I had a bumper bolt fail while trying to slacken it off ( 30 minutes with a Dremel cutting remainder of bolt out) which resulted in full bumper off. I found the bumper had rotted out were it rests on the chassis. Great but A bar and find you need new bumper and a bolt. Made a phone call yesterday morning and this arrived this morning.

Now I know why it was so heavy it two to carry it, thanks to Firstfour for the fast delivery. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,

Make sure you dinitrol or equivalent all of the back of the bumper and let it dry before fitting and you should never get the rotting problem again. Ray

Put another tank of fuel in my SHB 110. Shocked

Decided that while the Tdci is a lovely machine, I will stick to 200/300/Td5's for now.

And on that subject...... My 200tdi has been sat in a workshop doing nothing apparently as the Insurance company and the company who was paying for it are in arguments - so its now looking like I am not getting her back for 9-10 weeks from New Years.
