Land rover maintain that the short distance that the remote can be from the car before it can be used is to stop someone capturing the signal and therefore getting access to your car. So I would say yes, your remote can be cloned. Need to get it recoded or get a new handset and get that and the vehicle reconfigured. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Laurie, the 10AS .............
Spudfan, it's the length of the aerial on the Puma's 10AS unit which forces you to be near the landy when disarming.

EDIT: Removed the techy bit Thumbs Up

Thanks for that Very Happy
I'm not in need of technical stuff but would like to know if someone could open my (TD5 XS) Defender within a few minutes of my locking it, leaving the vehicle as if I'd just forgotten to lock it.
A simple yes or no will suffice as, already pointed out, the technicalities are best not discussed on here.

I returned to mine last year to find it unlocked and believed that a similar thing had happened, but later close inspection of the door just underneath the door handle revealed an altogether less sophisticated form of keyless entry. Evil or Very Mad Peter
