Australia 2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Stornoway Grey
Unsmooth TDCi
My TDCi seems very unsmooth when accelerating from idle through about 1250 rpm. I realise it's only a four cylinder, but my wife's TD4 FL2 is like butter. The Defender's windows rattle until 1500 rpm or so. Is this the experience of others?

Many thanks,
Austen.

No problems with mine. Windows did rattle a bit on sever corrugations, but then so did everything else!

I don't get any rattle on take off or low rev's either. 110 2.4TDCi

Same with me.

Wasnt there a few with prop shaft bolts loose...could this be your problem? Mike

Checked the prop bolts - they are tight. I wonder if the handbrake issue has some connection? I have backed the adjuster off so that the brake lever is nearly vertical when applied, but it still may be rubbing. I notice that the gearchange clonk is sometimes absent after applying the brake and releasing.

Put it in low range 2nd last night and let it idle and the whole vehicle seems to vibrate.

Back to the dealer, I think.

Austen.

Mine also has a rattle noise still but I don't really feel it - just the noise as when my first clutch was replaced.

Seems to be coming back slowly. Puma 110 - gone
Series III 1973 - going strong
